The Past: Queen Serenity
During the Silver Millennium, Queen Serenity was the ruler of the Moon Kingdom and the mother of Princess Serenity. In her first appearance in the manga she had lost her body. When the Moon Castle's main computer stopped working, the sub-computer booted up her will and projected a hologram created by the computer, giving her a "fairy form". In her "fairy form", the Queen had large transparent wings on her back, unlike her physical body from the past. When she speaks with Sailor Moon and her guardians, Queen Serenity explains that she was the one who stirred Luna and Artemis from their cryogenic sleep and watched over them through the feline advisors. Queen Serenity also explains many details about the Moon Kingdom's past and states that those who were born on the Moon had a long lifespan, and their duty was to protect Earth as well as the Silver Imperium Crystal.

In the SuperS Arc, we learn that Queen Nehellenia, who was jealous because she was not invited to the celebration of the princesses' birth, placed a curse on the child, foretelling the destruction of the Moon Kingdom and the death of Princess Serenity before she taking the throne. Queen Serenity sealed away the dark queen within a mirror, and life continued. The Moon Castle in its glory had a dome full of lush greenery and had fresh winds blowing within it. Soon after Princess Serenity fell in love with Endymion, she noticed that the sun was active, and it was what delivered their destruction. When the Evil One slipped into Earth and stole the hearts of the Earthlings, war broke out. Her only daughter, Princess Serenity, took her life because she did not want to live without her love. And with a heart full of grief and sorrow, she sealed away Metallia; but the kingdom had turned to stone and fell, and Earth had to begin its evolution once more. Hoping that her kingdom could find happiness in the future, Queen Serenity used the last of her strength, and reincarnated the Princess, Endymion, and the sailor senshi. Although she was a gentle person, she was a strong ruler who had governed the Moon Kingdom with dignity and strength, and possess untold love and dedication to those under her rule.

Attacks

Although Queen Serenity did not have any attacks, she was able to wield the awesome power of the Ginzuishou to revive her daughter, Princess Serenity, and to seal away evil powers.
