Mizuno Ami lives in the Azubu Juuban District in a Condo with her mother, who is an infamous doctor. It is also known that Ami has an IQ of over 300, and attends cram school such as the Crystal Seminar. Ami is also allergic to love letters! However, when she transferred into her new school, she wasn't able to make any friends until she met Usagi while petting Luna. Ever since they met, Usagi and Ami have become very good friends. She is a gentle, kind person, and she always keeps a level head. She also has different hobbies, such as studying, reading, playing chess and swimming; all of which help her release stress. She is always helping her friends study (and get into high school), and is normally quiet and reserved. But don't think that she's just "boring old Ami"! There are more ways to use ones' intelligence.
The Soldier: Sailor Mercury; Super; Eternal
Although Sailor Mercury is not the most powerful senshi, she is undoubtedly one of the smartest. Most of her attacks involve some kind of distraction against the enemy, or even a cover for the senshi to move around more freely. She is also a very tactful person, and isn't afraid to whip out her handy gadgets to gauge the situation. I also believe that there would be a lot less senshi without her analysis and her stability within the group. There are also several times where Sailor Mercury questions her duties as a senshi because the enemy plays on her doubts and fears. They make her realize that she's jealous of Mamoru and Usagi's relationship, and that being a senshi will keep her from gaining more knowledge for med school, or other "normal" dreams most girls have. But in the end, Sailor Mercury realizes that her true dream is to use her knowledge to help the other senshi! And just so you know, she does have a small reservoir of attacks, and they're quite beautiful in the animated version. Besides, if everyone had outgoing personalities, things would get boring.
The Past: Princess Mercury
During the Silver Millennium, Princess Mercury Resided within the Mariner Castle when she was not beside Princess Serenity's side at the Moon Palace. She was also one of the four guardians to the Princess. It is also likely that Princess Mercury tutored Princess Serenity in her various studies. In one colored art picture by Naoko, she is depicted as having some sort of relationship with Zoicite, but there is no other information regarding these two as a potential couple. Unfortunately, during the Dark Kingdom's attack on the moon, she was killed by Queen Metallia. Queen Serenity, the ruler of the Silver Millennium, used the last of her power to reincarnate the fallen Senshi into the future.
