The Shitennou: Kunzite

Kunzite is the General of the Middle Eastern Division, and is also the leader of the Shitennou, otherwise known as the four heavenly kings. He was the greatest and the best of the four Shittenou, and was calm on the surface, yet frightening when angry. His loyalty to Queen Beryl is doubtful. In the anime version Kunzite is paired with Zoicite; however, this relationship does not exist in the manga, in which their relationship is far closer to brotherly love. In a famous colored illustration by Naoko, he is coupled with Aino Minako, otherwise known as Sailor Venus. Although Naoko had played with the idea and there is evidence of affection between these two characters, they are not an official couple. Although Kunzite was obviously unsuccessful in his attempts to kill the senshi, he was able to force Usagi to reawaken as the Moon Princess and had kidnapped Endymion. Later on, he is destroyed by the other sailor senshi and he is reverted to his stone form. Towards the end of the Dark Kingdom arc, he is revived and he recalls his memories of the Earth Kingdom, when he used to serve for Prince Endymion. But he had since been reverted to his "stone" form, and is kept by Chiba Mamoru.
